Joseph Petric
Joseph Petric is a virtuoso of the accordion. Known for his emotional and thoughtful interpretations and his riveting command of the accordion, he performs everything from Bach to Berio. Critics have
described his solo performances as "magical, astonishing... ferocious virtuosity and understated mastery... a revelation."
Over 160 new works have been written for Joseph, including 13 concerti and 26 electroacoustic pieces. His 22 CD's include the Juno-nominated Orbiting Garden which Grammophone called "dizzying... an impressive recital." His 2001 release of keyboard works by JS and CPE Bach on the Analekta label was hailed as "exquisite, the union of composer and performer first startle, then amaze."
Joseph Petric is a member of several chamber ensembles including Bellows and Brass with brass virtuosi Alain Trudel and Guy Few, and Erosonic with the baritone saxophonist David Mott. He has performed at venues throughout the world including Tanglewood, London's Purcell Room, IRCAM in Paris, and Vienna's Musikhaus, and his performances have been broadcast on CBC, PBS, BBC3, as well as on French, Norwegian and Swedish national radio networks and EUTV5.
