Stephen Sitarski

Stephen Sitarski is the Concertmaster of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra and first violinist of the Canadian Chamber Ensemble and the Emperor String Quartet. He is also a member of Toronto's Art of Time Ensemble.

Since his debut with the Toronto Symphony at age 15, Stephen has performed as violin soloist with several Canadian orchestras, performing works ranging from Bach to Arvo Pärt. With the Winnipeg Symphony, he gave the Canadian premieres of works by Keith Jarrett and Aaron Jay Kernis; concerti have been written for him by Canadian composers Glenn Buhr and Kelly-Marie Murphy.

He is a regular guest of several festivals including Westben, Elora, Festival of the Sound, and the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival where he recently collaborated with Quartetto Gelato, performing his own arrangement of music from Puccini's Tosca. He often records commercial music in Toronto studios including, recently, the violin solos on the soundtrack for the film Being Julia starring Annette Bening and Jeremy Irons.

Stephen teaches at the Glenn Gould School of Music and at the National Youth Orchestra of Canada.
