Kids Show

Caliban's show for children features entertaining and informative demonstrations of the bassoon and contrabassoon and culminates in a narrated story with music called "Darwood's Wild Bassoon".

Written, arranged and narrated by Fraser Jackson, this 25-minute story follows the adventures of Darwood the Dragon as he searches everywhere for a wild bassoon. Along the way, the Quartet ends up playing several of the most famous orchestral excerpts for the bassoon, woven into a lovely story of Darwood's determination to avoid the regular path trod by every regular dragon. The show has been performed 8 times now, each illustrated with large and vivid paintings by Nadina Jackson.

Caliban's concert for children is suitable for ages 5 to 12 and lasts about 45 minutes.
